Tragic Fire At Classy Lane Stables In Puslinch Kills More Than 40 Horses

Fire at Classy Lanes Stables in Puslinch
Last night just before 11:30pm Ontario Provincial Police were called to a barn fire at Classy Lane Stables Training Centre on Concession 1 in Puslinch.

Police provided traffic control while 5 fire departments battled the blaze: Puslinch Fire and Rescue Services, Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department, Guelph Fire Department, Cambridge Fire Department, and Hamilton Fire Department.

This devastating fire at a multi-million dollar stable is estimated to have killed more than 40 horses. The cause of the fire is being investigated by Puslinch Fire and Rescue Services and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall has been contacted.

Puslinch Fire Chief Goode has told the Wellington Advertiser that when firefighters arrived at Classy Lane Stables Training Centre on Concession 1 the barn was fully involved and there was nothing the firefighters could do. He went on to say that “This is the highest dollar loss the Township of Puslinch has experienced”.

Horses at Classy Lane Stables race at some of southern Ontario’s best-known tracks, including Woodbine, Mohawk and Flamboro Downs. The stables are a key employer in the Township of Puslinch.

I’m sure everyone in Puslinch is as devastated as I am at hearing this news this morning. Our thoughts and well wishes are with everyone affected by this tragedy including all the poor animals lost in the fire.
