Puslinch Kodiaks Start the Year Off With a Win

On one of the first beautiful nights of the calendar year, the Kodiaks got their season off on the right foot. Taking on the Waterdown Hammer at the Aberfoyle ball diamond, the Kodiaks were able to come away with a 4-1 win on Tuesday night. The game was the first of the regular season for the Kodiaks, and despite little time on the diamond in the month of May due to weather, the Kodiaks seemed quite ready to go from the start.

Troy Cox got the start on the mound for Puslinch, and although he allowed 5 base runners in the first two innings, none of them came in to score. From there he was able to settle in and pitch 5.1 innings, only giving up 1 run. David Jefferson came in to relieve Troy in the 6th inning, and was able to escape the bases loaded jam to get out of the 6th, before pitching a three up, three down 7th for his first save of the year. Troy Cox picked up his first win of the year.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Kodiaks were able to push one run across in the 1st and 4th innings, before adding on a couple of insurance runs in the 5th innings to give them a healthy 4-1 lead. Brandon Viol lead the way for Puslinch’s offense, getting 2 doubles, both times eventually coming around to score. J.J. Gallo was the RBI leader for the night, knocking 3 of Puslinch’s 4 runs in.

The team would like to thank all those who came out to watch and support the team.

The Kodiaks next game will be On Tuesday May 23rd, at the Aberfolye Community Centre, starting at 8:30. They will be taking on the Hamilton Pirates.
