Morriston MudHens Rally in the Bottom of the 7th

Monday night saw the Morriston MudHen’s pullout a thrilling come from behind victory. Trailing 5-4 to Oxford heading into the bottom of the 7th Frank Cain lead off with a single, Chris Fortner then followed with a game tying triple, 2 outs later Mark Smith completed to comeback win with a clutch single to score Chris from third and bring home the MudHen’s 3rd victory of the season.

Jim Somerville and Phillip (Buster) Shrive combined on the mound for the victory. Oxford was threatening with the bases loaded and no outs in the 4th. Todd Cox made a great throw to the plate and Paul MacDonld hung on for the out, Jason Ried made fantastic running catch in centre and Barry Dawn made the final out on a fly ball to right field.

After winning the B side championship at the season kickoff tournament in St. George the MudHen’s went into a little slump, things seem to be turning around as they have now won 3 of their last 5.

The MudHen’s play out of the Old Morriston Diamond on Monday nights at 8:30pm. Next game is July 20th vs Rockton.
