Cardboard Boat 2017

Aberfoyle Team A, Boat 7, Lane 3, Heat 2, final stage of weight challenge, March 2, 2017. The collective weight of these six students from Team A and Team B was 713 pounds or 323 kilograms. The boat had to hold this weight for at least 60 seconds for the record book. This is the 10th heaviest weight recorded by an elementary school team since Skills Ontario began the cardboard boat competitions in 1997. From left to right inside the boat are Wade Schnurr, Mason Hill, Sean from Team B (family name withheld), Shaan Uppal from Team B, Aidan Derderian and Ehsan Patel.

Cardboard Boat 2017

Aberfoyle Team B, Boat 30, Lane 2, Heat 8, final stage of weight challenge, March 2, 2017. The collective weight of the four students from Team B was 498 pounds or 226 kilograms. Unfortunately, the boat sank moments after this photo or five seconds before the group would have reached the one minute mark for the weight of all five students in the photo (including one member from Team A) to have been allowed to be recorded. The collective weight of all five students in the photo would have been somewhere over 600 pounds. From left to right inside the boat are Sebastian Harman-Denhoed, Caroline Widdecombe, Ehsan Patel from Team A, Sean (family name withheld) and Shaan Uppal.
