Good News For Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market: Fees Unchanged for 2017

At Wednesday’s Puslinch Council meeting, the renewal of the agreement with the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market was green-lighted by council. The agreement will be for four years, for the use of the ORC
Arena Pad, one change room, washroom facilities and the green shed for storage for 23 weeks per year.

The fees payable by the market for use of the facilities will not change for 2017 (they will get the same highly discounted rate they had in 2016). For following years, the standard cost of living increase will be applied to the rate.

The 2017 rate represents a discount of near 50% off the standard rate for rental of the facilities. The market had requested a further reduction for a total of 75% off the standard rate but council elected to remain at the 2016 rate since the 75% reduction would apparently not cover the costs associated with running the facility for the day and therefore was deemed unacceptable.

Big discounts like this one that are awarded by council encourage ventures like the market, which helps support local farmers and artisans and provides a great local shopping experience right here in Puslinch.
