RIDE Check Gets Drunk Driver Off Puslinch Roads

On September 21, 2017 at approximately 10:15 p.m. members of Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Gore Road, Township of Puslinch.

A male driving a 2017 Hyundai entered the RIDE check. While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of alcohol consumption. A roadside test demand was made however the driver would not provide a sample.

26-year-old Cody O’BRIEN of Cambridge has been charged with Refuse to Provide Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has also been charged with Driving while under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days as per statute. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 3, 2017 to answer to the charges.
