Impaired Dump Truck Driver Involved In Morriston Collision

On November 16, 2019 at approximately 12:20 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-motor-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 36 at Highway 6 involving a tractor trailer and a dump truck in Morriston.

Investigation revealed that the tractor trailer was northbound on Highway 6 when the dump truck reversed into its path from Wellington Road 36, causing severe damage to the tractor trailer.

While speaking with the dump truck operator, police formed the opinion that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The accused was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Paramjit SINGH, 48-years-old of Mississauga has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on December 20, 2019 to answer to the charges.
