Parked Vehicle’s Window Smashed And Contents Stolen At Puslinch Trail

OPP
On June 15, 2020 at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle that was parked at a trail on Watson Road. While the complainant was walking her dog on a trail and getting some fresh air unknown suspect/s were damaging and stealing her property. It was reported that sometime between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. unknown suspect/s smashed the victim’s pick-up truck window and stole her purse which contained her identification, cash and credit cards.

OPP is reminding motorists to conceal their property when it’s left in an unattended vehicle – or better yet leave it at home. Consider carrying a small wallet that contains your driver’s licence, cash/bank card and keeping it with you on the trail. Theft is a crime of opportunity that can be prevented. A broken window and stolen cash is an expense and an inconvenience but stolen identification can lead to identity theft which is far more complicated and impactful.
