Guelph ‘At The Cusp Of Full Recovery’ Following COVID-19 Economic Slow Down

Guelph’s economy continues to recover from the initial shock of the COVID-19 pandemic, but there is still a long ways to go before things can get back to normal.

According to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada, the Guelph census metropolitan area – which also includes Puslinch and Guelph-Eramosa – had an unemployment rate of 11.0 per cent in August.

While double-digit unemployment rates are far from ideal, this is a marked improvement over numbers seen earlier in the summer, including June’s 14.9 per cent, the highest number on record for the area…
