Puslinch To Receive Up To $1.6 Million In Funding For Park Upgrades

The Township of Puslinch is thrilled to formally announce that the Investing in Canada
Infrastructure Program (ICIP) funding application submitted to the Federal and Provincial
governments in 2019 has been approved. As a result of this funding announcement, up to $1.66
million in Federal and Provincial funds will be available for important improvements at the
Puslinch Community Centre Park in Aberfoyle as well as the Old Morriston Park. Puslinch
acknowledges and sincerely thanks the Province’s and Canada’s support for these two projects.

The grants cover up to 73% of the costs through the Community, Culture and Recreation
Infrastructure Stream of the ICIP program. The federal government will contribute a combined
total of up to $906,699 (40%) between the two Puslinch projects, while the provincial government
will contribute up to $755,507 (33%). The remaining portion will be covered by the Township and
the community.

With up to $793,449 from the federal government and up to $661,141 from the province, the
Puslinch Community Centre Park in Aberfoyle will receive a number of improvements to address
the service delivery gaps noted in the Master Plan, enhance accessibility standards and address
the functionality, condition and use of the park. Examples of improvements are items such as
soccer field upgrades, drainage improvements, site servicing, paving, light fixtures, lighted
walkway connections, benches, parking lot upgrades, tractor pull upgrades, and others.

With up to $113,250 from the federal government and up to $94,366 from the province, Old
Morriston Park will receive upgraded washrooms and new lights.
Township staff are preparing a report for Council prior to issuing the Request for Proposal for the
detailed design of these projects.

and exercise to maintain good mental and physical health. The new soccer fields and ball

that we don’t have nice facilities now, but when this is all completed, we’re going to have some
very nice parks and baseball diamonds. This is something that should really be celebrated…we
want to take a moment to highlight that…having these two projects, which are hugely invaluable
to our community, being funded 73 per cent by this program, is a huge contribution and it’ll be a
huge improvement. These projects now have the funding to come to life, and that’s just such a
huge benefit to our entire community.”
