The Puslinch Kodiaks have been selected to participate in the International Softball Congress Men’s World Fastball Tournament, which is taking place from August 11-18th in Kitchener. This will be Puslinch’s second time attending this tournament, the last time being in 2014, which was also held in Kitchener, Ontario.
The Kodiaks have been given a tough task for their first game of the tournament, which will be played against the Hill United Chiefs. Hill United has won this tournament 4 times in the past 5 years, with the only blemish being in 2016, when they finished second. The Kodiaks will be looking to shock the entire tournament in this first game, which is being played on Sunday August 12th, at 3 pm. All the games for the tournament are being held at the Peter Hallman Ball Yard, located at 220 Hayward Ave. The Kodiaks first game is being played on Diamond 1, which will also hold the opening ceremonies for the tournament, immediately after the Kodiaks take on Hill United.
If the Kodiaks were able to be giant killers and take down Hill United in that first game, they would play their next game on Monday afternoon at 4 pm. If they lose against Hill United, their next game would be at 10 am on Monday morning.
There is also the possibility if the Kodiaks lose two of their first three games, they will then be place into the tier two division of the tournament, which will run at the same time during the August 11-18 week.
The Kodiaks have 3 games this week to get ready for the tournament. The first being in Puslinch (the game is being played at the old Morriston Ball Park) on Tuesday August 7 at 8:30 pm. On Wednesday they will travel to Niagara Falls for a game, and Thursday they will be in Milgrove for a 7 o’clock game against Waterdown.
