Ontario Ponders Extending Pause On Bottled Water Permits

The provincial government is seeking public feedback on whether it should extend a moratorium on new—or expanding any existing—permits for bottled water companies to take groundwater.

A moratorium put in place in Dec. 2016 by the previous Liberal government is set to end on Jan. 1, 2019.

The current government is asking whether people would like to see the moratorium extended to Jan. 1, 2020. The survey is a simple yes or no question, but the public can also provide comment through the province’s Environmental Registry of Ontario website.
