On Wednesday December 19, 2018 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the male driver of a beige sedan at the carpool lot on Lake Road at Townline Road.
While speaking with the male, officers immediately detected a strong odour of marijuana within the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, officers located a large quantity of marijuana bud (>30g) that was in contravention of the Cannabis Act 2017 and he was placed under arrest. While attempting to handcuff the accused he resisted by pushing away from the officer in an effort to prevent the cuffs from being put on. Officers gained control of the suspect and he was placed in the rear of the cruiser. A search of the vehicle revealed the suspect was in possession of a large quantity of cocaine.
41-year-old Kulbir Singh BAINS of Cambridge has been charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act, Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling contrary to the Cannabis Act, Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
