Waste Disposal Facilities Closed In Wellington County

The County of Wellington has closed all Waste Facilities in consideration of
the social distancing protocols issued by Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and the Province of
Ontario in response to the COVID-19 situation.

As a result of these closures, residents are being asked to use curbside collection services for residential
waste needs. To ensure your garbage is collected, residents should have their waste materials placed on
the curb, in a User Pay bag, by 7:00 am on their scheduled collection day.

Residents who have waste disposal needs that exceed the curbside collection service are asked to contact a commercial bin hauling company.

Residents living on un-assumed roads should contact the County’s Solid Waste Services office so that
provisions can be made to ensure curbside collection services are extended to these areas.

The County’s curbside collection contractor is working hard to maintain waste removal services across the County during the COVID-19 situation. The User Pay system supports the ability of the collection workers to perform this service by having a fee for waste that is set-out, which is important at times like these, where the County is experiencing higher garbage volumes. Having no fees for waste could compromise the collection workers ability to pick up the large amount of waste at roadside.

The County is increasing deliveries of User Pay bags to distributors across the County to meet the
increased demand at this time. A list of all User Pay Bag distributors can be found at
