Wellington Terrace Declares Covid-19 Outbreak— December 30, 2021
While testing for COVID-19 at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home, one resident and one staff member tested positive for the virus. The resident and staff member have been isolated and Wellington Terrace has now been placed into a COVID-19 outbreak status. The outbreak status will remain in place until January 4th or at the discretion of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.
The resident has had mild symptoms and is currently stable. Results as to whether the case can be defined as the Omnicron variant are still pending.
Wellington Terrace staff immediately responded to the situation with direction from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. All Public Health protocols are being followed, and all families of Wellington Terrace residents have been notified of the situation.
All visitors, staff and contractors are being rapid tested every time they enter the home, which is above and beyond the Ministry of Health directives. Any resident or employee that shows the slightest evidence of a health change is immediately tested for COVID-19.
This is the first positive care of COVID-19 in the Wellington Terrace resident population.
