Wellington County Museum Hosting a Wedding Festival, Inviting Residents to Don Wedding Attire and Share Stories
Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) will host a Wedding Festival on September 11, from 11am until 3pm. The event will include live music, food and drink, wedding stories from Wellington County and around the world, games and crafts for children, and a free photo booth.
Event attendees are encouraged to come dressed in wedding attire, be it from their own wedding, a relative’s closet, or a second-hand store. Tacky bridesmaid dresses, ruffled tuxedos, and adorable ring bearer outfits are also welcome at this all ages event.
“Museums are places where people are given platforms to share their history and culture,” says Hailey Johnston, WCMA Curator. “The Museum’s current exhibit, Here Comes the Bride, highlights wedding stories and clothing from our collection, but there are so many more stories to tell.”
Wedding Festival attendees can sign-up to share wedding stories their unique cultural traditions at the event. And all Wellington County residents – regardless of where their wedding took place – are welcome to submit their wedding stories and photos to be included in the event showcase.
