On January 12, 2023, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft from a business in Aberfoyle. It was reported that two pickup trucks attended the store, one backed through the front entrance of the store and three suspects loaded trimmers, a power blower and generators before fleeing.

One of the vehicles was located a short time later, abandoned and on fire. Investigation revealed that it had been reported stolen from the City of Guelph. Police are interested in identifying the second vehicle, a silver GMC pick-up truck that was last seen travelling south on Brock Road South (Highway 6) Suspects have been described as 1) male, wearing a red camo jacket and blue pants 2) male wearing dark clothing, green gloves and a hoodie 3) male wearing a dark grey jacket and a dark winter toque and dark face mask

Preliminary estimates put damages to the building near $50,000.
