Puslinch Prowlers U11 Black vs Grey a Nail Biter

Well, Puslinch Minor Ball started the season off with a bang! The fans got every penny out of that game. Extraordinary defensive plays, good strong pitching, offense at every level, and a good fun game!

Puslinch Prowlers Grey, jumped out to an early six nothing lead in the first two innings. A huge home run by Ebaad Urrahman accounted for three of their runs. But the Black fought back. At the end of the second inning, the score was now 6 to 5. Puslinch Grey scored five runs in the third inning to take back the big lead of 11 to 5. And then the Black answered back with five of their own, to claw it to within one. In the top of the last inning, the Black shut them down, with some strong pitching by Chase Corlett Tuck, and the Grey were unable to score in an inning for the first time all night. Down by one run in the final inning, Zach Lang of the Black hit the tying run, Sam Jones in, and three batters later, Brianna Arens stepped up to land a double into the gap, scoring Zach Lang for the winning run.

Puslinch Grey had strong offensive nights by Charlie McLaurin, who got on base all four times he was up and scored three of their runs. Griffin Coburn, had a base clearing triple that got three runs in for them as well. One of the newest rookies and new sensations, Maxine Bough, had her self a night. Going two for three and a walk she scored two runs and stole a base, looking like a force to reckon with in the years to come. Ebaad added a couple more RBIs onto his night, giving him a total of five! What a big night that is! Another rookie, Elias DeFrancesa had himself a good night, getting on base three times tonight as well. Sydney Leachman also contributed to cause with a couple walks and a big hit for a perfect night at bat for herself. A lot needs to be said for the amazing pitching job that Mason Hunt did for the Grey, pitching all five innings, recording five strikeouts, and three of them in the first inning alone. He also helped own cause by scoring two of the Grey’s runs.

As for the Black, it was a pretty balanced attack. With Zach, Beckett Villeneuve, Elyse Dodds, and Sam Jones all scoring two runs. Black’s pitching was strong, in the first inning for the Black, Henry Ervin carried the load and also helped his cause tonight with two stolen bases in the game as well. Trent Lawler came in for the next two innings to carry a heavy load! Aden Johal was a main contributor to the game by getting on base all three times and scoring all three times. And Brianna Arens added a walk along with her big hit of the evening. Pitchers Henry Ervin, Trent Lawler, and Chase Corlett Tuck all pitched a strong game, and we’re helped out by two defensive gems in the evening, a fly ball, caught by Beckett and another flyball, caught by the young rookie, Tim Ervin.

Puslinch Grey, now goes to Alma, for the first away game of the season this Thursday night, while Puslinch Black wait at home till next Tuesday where they will take on Puslinch Green. Good size turn out at the game the other night as both stands were full, hope to see more and more people come out and support the youth of our community! Congratulations both teams with the well fought game.
