On February 21, 2016 at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Wellington Road 36 near Concession 11 in Puslinch Township.

Investigation revealed that the 2012 Volkswagon was being operated in an erratic manner prior to entering the ditch.

Police located the vehicle and immediately detected the strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver was unsteady on his feet and admitted to consuming alcohol.

The male was arrested and taken to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

46-year-old Maxim SKAVYCH of Kitchener has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 18, 2016 to answer to the charges.
