Puslinch’s ‘Bam Bam’ Steals Spot On Team Ontario

Presly Buchanan has her eyes set on the 2016 Canadian Open Fastpitch Futures Gold Championship July 18 to 23.

Though that nickname is usually tagged on someone with a big bat – she did hit .387 with two homeruns and 43 RBI last season – the 16-year-old former Cambridge minor softball player gets the moniker for her fleet feet.

“I have long legs and they say I get to first base in about five steps,” said the Puslinch resident, who, in fact, has been timed at 12.06 seconds for a trip around the bases.

But you put those two offensive qualities together, along with being a premier pitcher and having the ability to play the infield, and there’s no wonder Buchanan was named to Team Ontario for the 2016 Canadian Open Fastpitch Futures Gold Championship in Surrey, B.C., from July 18 to 23…
