Freezing Rain Warning In Effect Today

ice-storm

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Guelph – Erin – Southern Wellington County
Kitchener – Cambridge – Region of Waterloo
Mount Forest – Arthur – Northern Wellington County

Freezing rain likely this evening.

Some light snow or ice pellets may affect the area late this morning into the afternoon, but any accumulations should be limited to a few centimetres at most. Locally slippery conditions are possible.

A more significant area of precipitation is expected to move into the area early this evening. A few hours of freezing rain are possible before precipitation changes to rain later in the evening, particularly over higher elevation areas such as the Dundalk Highlands.

At this point, freezing rain amounts are expected to be fairly light. However, untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery.

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
