Employee At Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home Tests Positive For Covid-19

Wellington County

On Saturday, an employee at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home in Aboyne tested
positive for COVID-19. The employee is experiencing mild symptoms and is recovering in isolation at
home. County officials and Wellington Terrace staff immediately responded to the situation with the
direction of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health to limit further transmission of the virus.
Wellington Terrace began working closely with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health to contact any
employees that may have been in close contact with this staff member. As a result of this investigation,
12 additional staff members are now self-isolating at home for 14 days. All families of Wellington
Terrace residents have been notified of the situation.

“Wellington Terrace follows extensive infection control processes that are aligned with Ministry of
Health directives and are guided by Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health,” said Warden Kelly
Linton. “We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take vigilant measures to protect both
our residents and staff. We all are sending the infected staff member our best wishes for an expedient
recovery.”

Respiratory outbreak control measures have been put in place. All staff are wearing full personal
protective equipment. All residents and staff are screened twice a day for signs of respiratory infection.

“Any resident or staff member that shows even the slightest evidence of a health change is immediately
tested for COVID-19,” said Suzanne Schwartzentruber, Administrator for Wellington Terrace Long Term
Care Home. “Residents and staff who have been tested remain in isolation until their test results are
known. At this time, we have not had any positive cases of COVID-19 in our resident population.”
