Rotary Hosts Successful Taste Of Italy Pasta Dinner— February 22, 2023
On Friday, February 10th, Guelph South Rotary’s TASTE OF ITALY, PASTA DINNER, returned to Puslinch following a two-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, and it was an overwhelming success!
Judging by the high energy in the Archie MacRobbie Hall, at the Puslinch Community Centre, it was obvious that guests from other Rotary clubs, in the Guelph area, and dozens of local residents, were enjoying the opportunity to come together again for a delicious meal, prepared by Guelph South Rotarians, and to visit with friends and family.
This was a fundraising event in support of Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre, and other local charities.
Funds were raised through the generosity of local businesses and individuals who sponsored 21 of the dining tables, together with many donors providing gift cards, for the ‘Gift Card Game,’ in addition to auction prizes.
The model of the Residential/ Respite / Life Skills building, for adults with cognitive disabilities , proposed at the Sunrise farm, was on display. A four-minute video that was shown during the evening, provided young adults with cognitive disabilities, and their parents, the opportunity to express the great need for a facility of this kind.
In an attempt to ensure Guelph South Rotary was able to continue fundraising, in the event that COVID restrictions should arise again, the Rotarians previously held an on-line holiday auction late last Fall. The combined proceeds from that auction, and Friday’s Pasta Dinner, was just over $16,000 for local charities.
At the conclusion of Friday’s event, students from the University of Guelph’s Rotaract Club, gave their support, by arriving to help Rotarians with the final clean- up.
Rotaract provides young adults the opportunity to experience being a part of community service, in preparation for later becoming a member of a local Rotary club.
Guelph South Rotarians extend appreciation to all who supported Friday’s event.
The Guelph Rotaractors are running a fundraising Gala, at the University on Friday, March 10th, in support of the Guelph Children’s Foundation. Summerlee Science Centre Atrium ,U of G .Doors open 6pm ,starts at 7pm .
